How to build self trust
and thrive

Last week we talked about letting go of the fear of failure. I was in a therapy session last week discussing this subject with my therapist, and one of the main things he talked about was the ability to trust yourself. If you trust that you are a capable person who will make it through any obstacle, the fear of failure will be way less of an issue.

How do we build self-trust?
Self-trust isn’t a personality trait, it’s a practice.
Keep Tiny Promises to Yourself – I know I talk about starting small often, but it’s honestly the best way to build momentum.
Start with: “I will drink a glass of water when I wake up.”
Then do it. Consistency is louder than intensity.
Check In Before You Check Out – When I say check in, I mean with yourself. Save the outside input until after you come to more of a conclusion within yourself.
“What do I actually think or feel about this?”
Practice being the first voice you consult.
Validate Your Own Emotions – Listen to your body!
Instead of “Am I overreacting?” try:
“Something about this made me feel off. That matters.”
Document Your Evidence – Write down every time you made a decision that helped you grow, even if it scared you.
You’re already more self-trusting than you give yourself credit for.
Let It Be a Relationship – A healthy/kind relationship please.
You’re not trying to control yourself, you’re trying to reconnect.
Talk to yourself with warmth, not judgment. It goes further.

It might feel like you will never be able to trust again. There are likely many valid reasons for that feeling. I promise you it’s not impossible to build that trust again. In fact, living the life you want in that relationship with yourself is the path! If you would like to go into further discussion, please join us in the besties section.
