Immediately teared up when watching this video. Part 2

Let's continue the discussion from part 1

LET’S GROW

For those of you who missed the first half of these questions here is last week’s newsletter. Had an incredible back and forth with the besties in the discord. Join us!

Here is the video I got these questions from if you want to check it out. Now on to the questions!

1. Remember a time you surprised yourself with your resilience. What seemingly impossible challenge did you overcome? How can that memory fuel your confidence for the new year?

As odd as this might sound, the biggest surprise was that I could slow down and everything wouldn’t fall apart. This summer I had a complete breakdown in life; I just slept for two months. I wanted to create and continue moving forward, but I just didn’t have the energy.

Instead, I just decided to give in and rest. It was terrifying for a while, because I wasn’t sure I was ever going to get the energy back. I wasn’t sure what the heck I was going to do career wise either. After a while, creativity came back. My desire to interact with the world came back. That’s where this newsletter came from. I have never had any desire to write, but now it’s one of my favorite things.

This helped me realize that if I wanted to move forward, it serves me to do so slowly and with intention. If I slowed down, the world wouldn’t end and only the stuff that needed to fall apart would. The biggest realization was to LISTEN TO MY BODY. It knows what I need better than I do.

Trust yourself folks! I promise it will work out.

2. What excites you more - the destination of your goals or the journey of getting there? How can you infuse each step with curiosity and joy?

I used to be a destination person, because it was something I could show others to impress them. Now that the focus is more inward, it is more about the journey. The biggest way I will infuse each step with curiosity and joy is to not do it alone. We aren’t meant to do life alone. This doesn’t mean romantic love, necessarily, it just means relationships with others.

As I go along, I’ll share in the journey with others- learning from them and sharing perspectives. Arriving at the goal as a community that is well rounded with different perspectives that help us get there. Then….actually celebrate!

3. What skills or knowledge would empower you to reach your goals? How can you invest in learning and growth throughout the year?

I have always been someone who learns through experiences. Funny enough, I have been mostly trying to learn from books. This year I am going to focus on getting out into the world. Even if things don’t work out the way I want them to, it’s not failing, it’s learning. If people judge/criticize that attempt, they can kick rocks.

If I am growing within a community, we can all laugh and grow together. Stop thinking so much, just go try.

4. Who are the people who inspire you with determination, creativity, and kindness? How can their stories and journeys illuminate your own path?

I received a comment from someone who upgraded to premium on here and their message could literally be the mission statement for why and for whom I created this space.

“I'm SO excited to find a supportive, like-minded, group of people that want to share thoughts, feelings, experiences that will help us all grow, think from a new perspective, and focus inward. I have had SO much toxicity, poor self esteem, and am now seeing clearly the need to accept my role in it AND find healthier people and relationships to make the most of my time, every minute of every day!! ”

This person wants to grow. This person is introspective. This person is seeking a like-minded community. This person showed me that my intention with this community is possible. Thank you.
