Recently, I was talking with my therapist and he asked me to describe my public self. I had a lot of really solid answers – I knew exactly who my public self is. Then he asked me to describe my private self, and the answer was a lot more messy.

While this is not uncommon, it's also not ideal. As we continued the conversation, he explained that I was investing so much more energy into how I presented myself than into actually supporting myself behind the scenes. As a result, my private self was languishing. For me to sit here and give you advice that I am not taking myself feels hypocritical. I never want to be hypocritical.
